Leo’s Journey is an ongoing project to photograph, by drone, the entire length of the Leominster Canal.
As years pass unused canals are in danger of being forgotten, re-
or destroyed.
The Friends of Leominster Canal was established to ensure that the existence and history of this Canal are not lost. Leo’s Journey will record what still exists and add information and legend surrounding the Canal’s most interesting features and history. It will also record the condition of many of the major structures on the route. In due course all will be available for canal and history enthusiasts to view.
The Project began in 2025 and is likely to continue until the end of 2026. This web page has been created to keep members and enthusiasts up to date on Leo’s progress.
The project is sponsored by The Friends of Leominster Canal and the Project is being undertaken by:
David Slater: historian & archivist.
Darren Smalley: structures and maps researcher and investigator.
Mike Watkins: Chairman of FoLC and drone pilot.
Leo: the drone.
Snoopy: the endoscope.
More information will be published on this site as the project progresses. In the meantime, if you wish to comment please use the contact tab above.
